Don’t be a Sad Traveller

Fled from home because of the war, arrived in Italy after a terrible journey, alone, bewildered, unable to understand the language and make themselves understood, some young people found a welcoming environment in Trieste through the Italian Solidarity Consortium (ICS) which has guaranteed a decent accommodation, the opportunity to learn Italian and to follow professional courses. To the people who welcome them, some wish to tell all their experiences, anxieties, anxieties and hopes, and the instrument becomes poetry. But to speak to Italians, to be truly understood and find a profound understanding, the language can only be Italian, and the most immediate tool, however unusual it may seem, is poetry. Thus, the collection of poems entitled “Do not be a sad traveller” was born, where authors showed the need to have an approach with our art and our culture, and in the meantime they give us, through their poetry, many aspects of their civilization. This book is a useful drop in making this contact between different worlds an encounter between giving and receiving.
