Asylum Protection Center (APC/CZA) is a nongovernmental, non-profit, independent and professional local grassroots organization, specialized in protecting asylum seekers, refugees, persons granted protection and other persons forced to migrate to Serbia. Founded in December 2007 by a group of young refugee protection professionals (lawyers, psychologists, pedagogues, political sciences and social workers) joined with experience gained in the EU countries, with a shared goal of protecting persons fleeing persecution, building and improving Serbian asylum system, fighting xenophobia, discrimination and prejudices towards migrants, working on integration and building and advocating for dialogue, interaction and respect of human rights of refugees in the local communities and Serbian society at large.
APC/CZA has been providing legal, psycho/social, integration/interaction aid and focused humanitarian aid to asylum seekers/persons granted protection all over Serbia for more than 15 years, via APC/CZA mobile teams and from regional APC/CZA offices in Southern, Central to Northern Serbia (especially in areas around all asylum and all reception/transit camps, e.g. in areas of Belgrade, Loznica, Sjenica, Tutin, Lajkovac, Valjevo, Presevo, Vranje, Bujanovac, Nis, Dimitrovgrad, Sombor, Sid, Adasevci, Principovac, Belgrade, Subotica, Kikinda, etc.). As such APC was recognized in the Strategy of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for Managing Migration (The Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia No. 59/2009) and has institutional position in the system as civil society professional organization protecting rights and wellbeing of asylum seekers and refugees in Serbia.
APC/CZA has been conducting various research and advocacy activities in the country. APCCZA is working intensively with local/nationa/regional/foreign media and has strong media and advocacy position in Serbia. APCCZA has been providing trainings for young legal/psychological/social work professionals and running related internship and volunteer programs for local and foreign students, undergraduates and volunteers. APCCZA has the network of more than 70 volunteers and cultural mediators willing to help refugees in Serbia. APC/CZA provides direct focused humanitarian aid, developed initially as it’s a side activity, in response to the particular gravity of the Syrian refugee crisis in Europe since 2015, COVID-19 crisis since 2019, etc.
APC/CZA has been ECRE (European Council of Refugees and Exiles) member since 2011 and IDC (International Detention Coalition) member since 2015, member of Serbian Convent (National Convention on the European Union-NCEU) and member of EUAA (European Agency for Asylum) Consultative Forum since 2016 and member of Advisory Group of the EASO Vulnerability Experts’ Network since 2018, member of ESN (European Statelessness Network) since 2020.
Main areas of APC/CZA’s work are divided according to the program areas: I Legal protection (legal information, legal aid and legal representation of asylum seekers/refugees/persons granted protection/unaccompanied minor asylum seekers, before asylum and other instances and in all other administrative proceedings, before magistrate courts, before administrative courts, constitutional court, ECtHR); II Psychological protection (psychological assessment, psychological individual/group/family counselling and therapy, crisis intervention, coordination and assistance in achieving medical services); III Pedagogical, Social and Integration Protection Sector (pedagogical/workshop assistance, assistance in education, support in access to labor market and getting employment, support in interaction/integration, social assistance, youth work, COI unit, student practices/internships, volunteering, humanitarian work); IV Program Sector (management, fundraising, finances, research, advocacy, media work).

Centre for Peace Studies (CPS) is a civil society organization that protects human rights and strives for social change based on the values of democracy, anti-fascism, non-violence, peacebuilding, solidarity and equality, using activism, education, research, advocacy and direct support. CPS works with communities, initiatives, organizations, media, institutions and individuals in Croatia and internationally. It operates through three compatible programs: Asylum, Integration and Human Security, Peace Education and Non-violence Affirmation, and Combating Inequalities.

LEGIS is a non-governmental organization founded in 2009 in Skopje, Macedonia. Originally it was set up to be a dignified spoken voice of the community needs and necessities. Basically, it was founded to be the organized will of people where its founders lived, in order to promote the basic human values in helping vulnerable and people in need, to increase the level of social awareness, as well as to give the best action response. This is achieved through professional competence and more importantly- charity with high enthusiastic dedication.
LEGIS lays its activity with focus on delivering needed humanitarian aid in every aspect and making any effort to prevent violation of basic rights and freedom of people who have been hard-up, fallen victims of any disaster, affected by war and similar calamities, wounded, crippled, oppressed or left hungry and homeless, both on national and international level. Thus, Legis has reached out to different countries such as Syria, Somalia, Macedonia, Greece etc. for its primal purpose of protecting human rights, promoting solidarity and preventing violation.
Our mission is to protect life, alleviate suffering and oppression and ensure dignity, respect for human rights and social justice. Our mission tends to spread the good deeds so a brighter and better future for everyone will flourish. We don’t hope passively, instead we believe that by mutual work and understanding, we can all contribute for a better world.
Our Values are our guiding principles that set the foundation of our work:
- We are driven by Humanity, we address human suffering wherever it is found, protect life and ensure respect for human beings with Impartiality, making no distinctions on basis of nationality, race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, class or political opinions. Our actions are carried out on the basis of need alone, giving priority to those in most serious and immediate danger.
- Our actions are autonomous and with disregard of any political, economic, military or other objectives and agendas. We adhere to the principles of Independence and Neutrality, we don’t take sides in hostilities or engage in controversies of political, racial, religious or ideological nature.
- We serve as Voice to the Voiceless, to bring to attention abuse of human rights, extreme need and unacceptable suffering, when access to lifesaving aid is obstruct, when crises are neglected and provision of aid is inadequate or abused.
