What we do

Balkan Refugee Network members are working together in the best interest of beneficiaries and their wellbeing, supporting respect of their human rights and guaranteed freedoms,  promoting  innovative solutions for the improvement of migratory/asylum/integration laws, polices, reception system and related integration schemes at local, regional, European and international level, and spreading tolerance and fighting discrimination and xenophobia.

To achieve common mission Balkan Refugee Network members are:

  1. Sharing objective, impartial and truthful information on:
    1. any break of beneficiaries’ rights – violations of basic human rights, inhuman and degrading treatment, violations of migrants’/asylum seekers’/refugees’ rights;
    2. plight of beneficiaries and their especially vulnerable subgroups (women, children, unaccompanied minors, persons with disabilities, SGBV, LGBT, etc.);
    3. illegal push-backs of migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, unaccompanied minors, on violence, abuse and discrimination, on smuggling, trafficking, on existing problems and challenges;
    4. other information related to migration, asylum, local communities and our beneficiaries.
  2. Realizing cross border cooperation, exchange of data, experience and knowledge, conducting joint legal interventions and legal representation, undertaking research and conducting joint advocacy.
  3. Supporting each other and supporting joint initiatives oriented toward improvement of beneficiaries’ rights/living conditions/wellbeing, including anti-discrimination campaigns, raising awareness and advocacy initiatives in local, general and international public;
  4. Promoting common synergy and exchange of knowledge, experience, strategies and activities (awareness raising, harm reduction, accommodation, integration, etc.) among Coalition members, their staff, supporters, etc.;
  5. Developing projects and carrying out related project and fundraising actions and activities;
  6. Standing up against threats to the expression and independence of each of Coalition members;
  7. Involving other local CSO grassroots and NGOs, devoted to the principles of the Coalition, in common projects, events and activities.
